After reviewing my work experience, I have to say that I have an over abundance of dislikes of the corporate world.
The first thing off the top of my head has to be the pay. Granted, they may start you out with a very promising wage, but $#@% if you ever expect to receive an increase comparable to your time invested in the company.
Many times the corporate structure is structured into sub-divisions and departments. Although some of these different departments may perform similar tasks, they very rarely, if ever, communicate with one another. This results in wasted time and resources only to end up with an un-standardized process.
Another “odd practice” of most companies is to install supervisors who have never worked a day in the department they are supervising over. For some reason, I find it disheartening to have to train the person who has been designated to provide me with direction. This type of practice leads to directives and procedures sent down to be implemented that have no bearing on the current processes.
I guess the one positive thing that I can say about being surrounded with this level of incompetence is that it just makes me look all that much better.

FOR112 Day 9 Blog Assignment
I’ve found that dealing with a “difficult” instructor, or any individual in a supervisory position for that matter, can have varying results no matter how you approach it. However, I believe that collecting documentation regarding “difficult” events and interactions would be beneficial. Do what you are required to do and all the while keep questionable emails sent from your instructor or supervisor, keep a personal journal that records discussions and events, and take note on anyone else that may have similar experiences with the individual or have witnessed it. If proper documentation is kept, substantial and tangible information can be provided if needed.
As far as how my classes are going, I’d have to say that they are going fine for the most part. I just wish I had more time and energy to enjoy them to their fullest.

Citation: “Public Agenda Online.” 2007. Public Agenda. 4 Dec 2007 http://www.publicagenda.org
Public Agenda seems like a great resource web site for researching many topics. The Discussion Guides feature is extremely helpful in presenting opposing and alternate positions of the article’s topic. The Fact File section gives a variety of statistics and additional information regarding the topic you are researching. This resource is very useful in providing further support for your research paper.
I give the site two thumbs up.

FOR112 Day 4 Blog Assignment
There are a few pro-active steps that I can take to further my educational and professional development. The main step is time management. By limiting my time on other activities I used to engage in prior to starting school (gaming), I’ve opened up blocks of time that I can utilize for school assignments. Applying lessons learned in my classes to everyday activities also helps further comprehend what’s been learned.
To become more successful in my profession, I’ve been using what I’ve learned in my Computer Applications class to elaborate on what people in my office are doing wrong. Updating my resume has also been a step to be further successful in a new career if I choose to pursue other companies for employment.
Overall, I plan to become more organized, plan and manage tasks, utilize time with friends and family to it’s full potential, and reduce the urge to procrastinate… for the most part.
